Panchkarma is a profound surgical strike on toxins. To allow the body to heal, the digestive fire (Agni) must be protected. This is where the concept of Pathya (wholesome diet) and Apathya (unwholesome diet) comes in.
During Purvakarma (Preparation):
Your diet should be light and warm. We recommend Kitchari (rice and mung dal), warm soups, and boiled vegetables. Avoid cold, heavy, fried, or processed foods.
During Pradhanakarma (Main Therapies):
Your Agni is at its lowest. Strict dietary protocols are followed. Often, a specialized diet called 'Peya-Vilepi' (gradually increasing the thickness of rice gruel) is administered to slowly reignite the digestive fire.
During Paschatkarma (Post-treatment):
As you transition back to normal life, it is crucial to reintroduce solid foods gradually. Continuing to eat mindfully ensures that the detoxified tissues are nourished with healthy nutrients, not new toxins.
Golden Rules:
- Eat only when hungry
- Drink warm water throughout the day
- Avoid raw salads, dairy, and fermented foods during the treatment period
- Eat in a calm, settled environment
